How is your oil tank vented. Have you checked it for leaks? A smell can be related to leaking (unburned) hydrocarbon from the oil tank or line. This can be checked and located quickly with instruments that detect hydrocarbon. You say there is a flixible exhaust pipe coming from the tank. Where does it ventilate and could there be any leakage at the flex-joints? Are odors worse during or immediately after filling? Are odors worse during any particular weather condition (wind direction, temperature)
