A friend and I are going to install tongue and groove knotty pine boards in a basement.One of the mills that we were going to buy the boards from told us we had better "seal" both sides of the wood with some type of polyurethane to prevent warping.We wanted to leave the boards just as they are-bare and unfinished.Do you see a problem with warping??Right now we have furring strips all along the outside walls with styrofoam in between.Is this good enought for the installation?Yes it's winter right now in Michigan and we will let the boards come up to basement temperature before installing.But I"ve never heard of these boards warping and twisting (like this guy said) if we don't "seal" them. Help...
