We have linoleum from about 1930-50. It is put down w/ a tar and paper-like substince. We were finally able to remove the linoleum, after using sharpened shovels....we now have black glue and black paper stuck to our red fir floor, that we are trying to remove w/ a heat gun and paint scraper. After we get most of the glue off, it comes of (sort-of) w/ water (it is semi-sucessful). Our house was built in 1924, and we would love to refurbish the original wood floor, which is very pretty. Is there way we can make this easier? It is extremely hard to remove it w/ a heat gun and water. We have tried chemicals, which simply melts the glue into the wood. We would appreciate any help!!
