Sawing the wood, planing it, and bending and gluing it to shape would be a lot better and safer process. You, in effect, can make yourown formed plywood. You can also purchase wood that has been made into more formable condition and glue and form these up.
I do wonder what you are involved with on a section of a size like mentioned. For something that big, you will not have enough clamps--and though you may have a lot, it will not be enough. I think that you may need a press or a lot of cauls and a lot more clamps.
