I removed paneling to find that the drywall is in poor shape. There are some small-to-medium sized holes but, more importantly, there are large areas where the white-colored coating has been torn off and brown pressboard/cardboard is exposed. Is there a type of compound I can cover the entire drywall with, then sand it, then paint it?
