I just installed a new cooktop that requiered a larger hole than I had. I don't own a jig saw so I used my Sawsall with a metal cutting blade. It worked great. I also taped the cut with premium masking tape to help prevent the splintering. I used a 1" spade bit in the corners to start the cut.
