looks like Venitian Blinds? I have seen these on several homes in my area and have asked the owners how they liked them and they did indeed. They said that the maint is almost nothing, compared to the troughs. But he did say that once in a while a big leaf like a sycamore leaf will get hung up and cause a log jam. But, you can fix this from the ground very easily because its so exposed.
