I see your post is old but hope I can help.
I'm a plaster buy trade and we do lots od restoration and old houses.
The easy way out on the cracks is to use a elastomaric. It rubber like paint used for exterior roofs and some areas that expand and contract. You can use this inside and very safe.
As your walls move the paint will move with it.
The other way is replaster the areas using a fiberglass over the walls before the plaster is applied.
The basement is it limestone or an old stone?
This will always suck water in because it is porus. Try spraying on or brush on a product you can find at Lowes or local hardware called "Drylock" insist on that brand try that and it will help alot of moisture.
