bird in kitchen vent above stove

We have a townhome. Last night we realised that a bird or birds are trapped in the
exhaust fan vent(over the stove). You can hear the wing flaps and actually sometimes see the bird above the fan. Is there any way out for them to go OR
Do we have to get them out? How do we do this?

Any help would be appreciated.
