i'm no expert, but i've found that pouring a bit of baking soda followed by white vinegar down the drain helps unclog and freshen the kitchen drain. i do it every time after i wash dishes. i don't know anything about disposals, so i'm not sure if that would be a different issue, if in fact you have one.
