I know that back up sump pumps primarily protect you should the power go out. However, are they just as reliable if the pump itself fails - like the float gets stuck or doesn't kick in? That seems to be our biggest problem. We KNOW when the power is out, but we don't know if the sump pump has just decided that it has given us its useful life and quits. (Until it's too late.)
