You should not use muc, it will dry up and crack in years to come! you need to use a plaster based solution, i.e. pollyfiller or plaster mix. Mix up small amount of this sollution and then using a filling knife smuther the solution over the hole, allow to dry overnite and then sand off in the morning to give a perfect finnish. Paint over top.
