The professionals say, when a poly floor has wax on it, like endust, you must sand down to the wood and refinish. New poly won't stick if ANY wax is present. Otherwise, you could screen sand and recoat. I don't know you situation entirely but if you have to sand through 3 or more layers of poly, whats a little wax. All I know is you'll need a lot of sandpaper. For $2.50 to $3.00 per square foot, I'd hire a professional any day. Which would cost about $4,000 in my house. Good luck and make sure you do the research so you know what your doing before you start.
