Water Softner

Six years ago our house was hit with lightening. Our insurance company and the restoration people took it upon themselves to replace our Sears water softner with a colligan. I have never been overly pleased with this new system but really liked our Sears. Now we are having problems with the colligan and for $119.00 plus parts they will be more than happy to come to fix it. I perfer to go back to the Sears system. How do I go about removing the colligan and replacing it with Sears?
