How We Chose the Best Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Furniture Brands

When considering sustainable and eco-friendly furniture brands, we focused on materials used by the manufacturer, including both hard and soft materials, along with the variety of furniture pieces offered. Hard materials should come from sustainable wood, such as bamboo, or from responsibly forested materials. In addition, we looked for companies using non-toxic fabric and chemicals, along with reclaimed or recycled products when possible. Also, we looked for companies focused on doing their part to keep their furniture out of landfills, either through second-hand programs or by offering replacement products to refresh their pieces after wear and tear.

We found many furniture companies focusing on sustainable and eco-friendly pieces tended to be higher in price. Customer reviews were taken into account as well, and the companies used in this article received high marks for pieces that stood up to wear and tear, as well as design and overall use.
