That’s why we’ve partnered with John Deere to bring you the Love Your Lawn Give-Away, which awards one lucky winner a top-of-the-line mowing machine that makes easy work of outdoor maintenance.

Today and every day in April (starting 12:00 p.m. EST March 31st, 2016 through 11:59 a.m. EST April 30th, 2016), enter to win your choice of one of two John Deere riding mowers. (See Official Rules below.)

sealSince its founding in 1837, John Deere has grown from one man’s idea to improve agriculture into one of the most admired producers of American-made residential lawn equipment in the world. Building innovative, high-quality products that constantly improve the lives of those who use them is all in a day’s work for this household name, making John Deere a top choice for the farm, the front lawn, and everything in between.

If you come away the winner of this month’s give-away, you’ll get to choose the perfect John Deere mower for your lawn:

Want to give your neighbors major lawn envy? Then the S240 Sport Lawn Tractor is for you. This user-friendly model makes maintaining your lawn a smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. Large, turf-friendly tires and a powerful engine help this sleek machine tackle even hilly landscapes with ease, while the 42-inch Edge Cutting System provides a clean cut for your lawn.

If you choose the Z335E ZTrak Zero-Turn Radius Mower, you’re signing up for the best in speed and precision. It’s not how fast you mow, it’s how well you mow fast, and this mower delivers both. Ideal for long and level stretches of land, the motion control levers driven by two independent transmissions make turning on a dime easy and fun. Equipped with the ACCEL DEEP™ mower deck, which offers first-rate cut quality at faster speeds, the Z335E will leave your lawn consistently beautiful.

Colorful Desk Makeover

See how this crafty blogger transformed a secondhand desk into a bright statement piece for her refreshed home office.

Bob Vila Thumbs Desk Makeover

After searching with no avail for the perfect desk for her updated home office, Sabrina of Pink Little Notebook decided to hunt for a secondhand piece that she could repurpose instead. Keep reading to see how she put together this bright and modern build.

Bob Vila Thumbs Desk Makeover 2

First, Sabrina cleaned and dismantled the found desk so that it was ripe for repurposing. She then sanded the entire unit with her hand sander until all the previous sheen was gone, and wiped away any remaining dust. She primed and painted everything in a bright white, and then added an accent color to the ridges of the cabinets to make them pop. Sabrina wanted to replace the laminate countertop that the desk came with—and she wanted to add an extension—so she bought two pieces of pine wood to serve as the tops. She treated the wood, let it dry, and then applied a blue stain. Finally, she created legs for the extension and assembled everything together for a show-stopping finish.

Bus-Inspired Dream Dresser

It doesn't get much more charming than this Volkswagen-inspired dresser makeover. Keep reading to see how this blogger put it all together.

Bob Vila Thumbs Bus Dresser

Larissa of Prodigal Pieces had been carrying an idea around with her for about two years, and when she scored an Art Deco chest of drawers for free at a garage sale, she knew she could turn her dream into a reality. Read on to see how she brought her vision of this charming Volkswagen bus to life.

Larissa started by removing the chipped veneer that plagued the outside of the dresser and gave everything a light sanding. Then, she removed a few features she wasn’t enthused about, primed the piece, and started in on designing the bus using stencils made from cardboard, plastic lids, and other household items. After painting the dresser and thoughtfully assembling the hardware so it mimicked the front of a Volkswagen bus, Larissa added the perfect finishing touch: a silver VW emblem.

Old Piano Bench Turned Stylish Seat

This blogger transformed an old piano bench into a perfect perch for her home.

Bob Vila Thumbs Up Piano Bench

After scoring a vintage piano bench for pennies at a local garage sale, Melody of My Passion for Decor went to work giving it a much-needed spruce. Keep reading to see how a few simple steps made a huge difference for this outdated furniture piece.

Bob Vila Thumbs Up Piano Bench 2

First, Melody gave the bench a few coats of white paint and distressed it in a few areas to add interest. She also wanted to give it an element of coziness, so she decided to upholster the top using a piece of spare wood, foam batting, and fabric she found on sale. After completing the new and improved seat, she attached it to the bench top using screws, and displayed the project proudly in her home.

Kids’ Workbench

Be amazed at this wooden workbench that is a major must-have for any mini DIYer.

Kids Workbench 1

If you have a growing DIYer on your hands, then you have to see this workbench brought to you by Brad of Fix This Build That. Complete with a shelf for holding extras and a pegboard for hammers, wrenches, and more, this wooden work of art is ideal for any youngster who likes to tinker with tools.

Kids Workbench 2

Brad built the entire workbench out of standard 2x2s, 1×4’s, MDF, and pegboard, all available from the home center. The back legs and pegboard assembly are made from 2×2’s and are attached to the 2×2 front legs with 1×4 stretchers. The pieces are joined together with pocket hole screws for quick and easy assembly.
He added an MDF shelf below the workbench to hold larger tools and boxes. A lip around the lower shelf keeps everything contained and prevents runaway tools. The workbench top is also made from MDF and has rounded edges to prevent injury. Brad loaded the workbench with pegboard accessories for a fun, kid-friendly finish.

Pink Play Kitchen

You can't go wrong with a play kitchen as cute as this. Learn how this budget-savvy blogger crafted hers for about $15.

Play Kitchen 1

A play kitchen is a must-have for any house with kids, and this crafty blogger decided her home was no exception. With a budget-friendly goal in mind and a little digging around town, Bliss Ranch put together this charming pink play kitchen for less than $20.

Play Kitchen 2

A garage sale nightstand serves as the foundation for this fun project. Bliss started by removing the bottom drawer, turning it on its side, and reattaching it to the base with a hinge to designate the refrigerator door. A few pieces of scrap pine were added to separate the oven and the fridge, while the oven was built with a frame, two hinges, and a piece of old plexiglass. She built the back of the unit, as well as the shelves and window trim, from no more than luan scrap wood, and then painted everything in vintage shades for an adorable touch. She continued to add details like a scrap fabric window valance, a Dollar Store kitchen sink, and oven knobs she found for free. A little chalkboard paint on the side makes for the perfect spot for reminders and doodles, adding a classic finishing touch to this incredibly inexpensive kiddy classic.

DIY Dress Up Storage

A blogger builds the DIY dress up zone of her daughter's dreams with a few pieces of wood and inexpensive accents.

Dress Up Storage - 1

For anyone who has a little one who loves to play dress up, you’re well aware of how easy it is to lose precious costume pieces when there’s not a designated storage spot. To keep her daughter’s imaginative outfits corralled, Amanda from Old House to New Home built this custom closet fit for a princess.

Dress Up Storage - 3

After finding the plans from another friendly blogger, Amanda took 1x12s that she already had to be cut down at a home improvement store. She used her Kreg Jig to make pocket holes throughout, which helped make the building process more efficient and the end product more seamless. After assembling, Amanda caulked the shelf seams to hide any gaps or crooked edges. Once she gave the entire unit a coat of paint with primer, Amanda decked out the finished product with knobs, baskets, and other decorative elements that added an adorable flair to this classic command center.
