happy, with limited/hobby usage
I've had the Irwin ProTouch coping saw (2014400) for 5 months now, as an occasional handyman, using it only a coupla times, but happy with it overall at it's price point ($9.98 + tax) w/amazon free shipping). To reiterate (via copy>paste) what others have expressed: "as others have also discovered, I noticed that the slot in the rear blade-holding pin (the one closer to the handle) was at a 15-degree angle with the frame and the handle; it seems quite a few copies slipped through Irwin's QA line" --the blade being slightly bent at the pin because of that; the saw had proven usable --with just a coupla minor projects. One project was cutting rubber as a threshold ramp, 3/4" thick, to custom fit snugly around the door frame molding (having used a Saker contour gauge profile tool to get it's shaping copied). The other was cutting some small sections of sheetrock. The second issue i've seen in other reviews & that match my experience, is: " The 'keeper' nut has no threads. It merely acts as a spacer." Apparently the intended purpose of this nut "is to lock the adjustment side to keep the blade from loosening or turning." The one on mine merely slides along the shaft until you screw than handle down and it butts against it. Again, i've not noticed it affecting usage (thus far), but make note of it please. With my noted usages, it's worked just as coping saws should, in my limited experience, as my dad's old classic wood handle version did over the years. #shoutout to those who's review material i've paid forward, as having been my identical experience :-)
