But clean up was simple; just waited for it to dry and scraped it off the unwanted wood areas with a paint scraper. So far, it does seem to make a good thermal barrier. Overall I am pleased with how it turned out.
The can comes with instructions and two plastic tips that fit 5mm applicators. If you have an older applicator with a large or conical tip these tips won't fit. Fortunately they're inexpensively available here and elsewhere, so if you're going this route buy an applicator as well.
The two nozzles are slightly different - one sprays forward, and one sprays at an angle. All the videos suggest using both horizontally, and using the angled one to spray toward ceilings.
Like others, this spray foam requires the can and contents to be close to 70F or higher, and the application surface to be 50F or higher for good expansion and adhesion. Further, the can has to be shaken VERY well. If you apply cold foam, or to a cold surface, or you don't spend nearly a minute shaking each can immediately before application you'll find the foam application is globby/spotty, and uneven.
Even when prepared correctly it's a simple, single part foam system so it's going to have limitations. The biggest of which is that this foam isn't designed for thick applications - 1/2" to 1" thickness will need to be applied, then wait for curing before applying a second layer if thicker insulation is desired.
It's great if you have only a small project and don't want to engage a work crew for a few square feet. Once you get past a 10 foot by 10 foot section, though, a professional crew will likely be cheaper and provide higher thickness and better insulation than this.
Overall a good product that fills a need, but plan on buying a new applicator, and keep in mind it's meant for small, thin applications and plan accordingly.
