I have used the Scotch-Brite large scouring pads for quite a few years, and find they work great on some surfaces but not all. They are wonderful for cleaning cast iron, stove burners, and for removing calcium deposits on the pots I use for plants in my indoor garden. As for cleaning dishes, they would work fine, but I feel are an overkill unless you let food harden on your dishes. I would not recommend them for anything that can be scratched, such as toaster oven interiors and other ovens that can be scratched. For example, I have an Anova oven that the interior is easily be scratched with this cleaning pad. Unfortunately, I found this out the hard way. I would also not recommend them for any coated nonstick pans or pressure cooker pots unless you are careful not to put too much pressure on them. They are less likely to scratch surfaces than something like Brillo soap pads that are also better for some cleaning chores. Like most cleaning products, they are invaluable for some purposes.

I cut these pads in half to make two 6" x 4 1/2" pads that are plenty large for cleaning, and you end up with 16 cleaning pads. They last for quite a while depending on what you are scrubbing, and rinse well so they don't get gross like some cleaning sponges. Although they aren't good for every cleaning chore, I use them enough to keep them on hand.

I work in 3 professional kitchens. The employees just couldn’t get certain pans and pots completely clean and shiny. Our steel tables, and appliances, take a beating and have tons of food around them on the daily. I bought these for my own personal use, as I have used this brand and item for 30 years now. I cut them in half with a fillet knife, or leave them larger. Either way, I am going to have to buy more, because the cooks and other kitchen staff grab them to clean. They love them. I have used them everyday to clean everything from hoods to floor drains. These, and course steel wool, get everything shining swiftly and really make cleaning and doing dishes a more efficient process. One employee, decided to help us Chefs out…. and used one of these to clean one of our cast iron skillets……. It was so perfectly shiny silver again! I was pretty amazed that these (greenie)scouring pads can even do that. WARNING do not do this to your cast iron, unless you plan on painstakingly reseasoning it! Cast iron is supposed to be seasoned and black for those of you don’t know.
