I have an attic that i would like to utilize for storage. My house is a standard colonial so i have a lot of space up there. Can i simply lay down ply wood or should I reinforce the 2x6 floor joists? Someone suggested I could jsut lay down soem 3/4" plywood while others have recommended reinforcing the 2x6 with additional 2x4's glued or attached on top of the current floor joists.

Any thoughts?

It all depends what you're going to be putting up there. I can only assume it will be incidental things that don't weigh a hell of alot. In that case reinforceing wouldn't be needed.
