I am beginning to finish my basement and have noticed a few things that I am concerned about. Could you please give me some advice on how to handle them. My house is a town/row style house approx 12 years old.

When I first moved in 2 years ago I noticed cracks on the basement floor. The home inspector told me that they were settling cracks and that was normal. Now it appears that the cracks have spread. The source of the cracks is one spot which is slightly raised. From this raised point 4 cracks originate and spider cracking has occured from these 4 cracks. Now cracks run the entire length (35') and width (20') of the basement and is 1/8" at the thickest. It's not excessive cracking, but I fear if
not fixed it might become excessive. I have noticed no moisture coming through the cracks and the only raised point is the source of the cracks.

Is this normal or is this something that should be fixed?

-many thanks,
