We are considering extending our french drain but have a propane tank in the way. Would it work to make a bend in the drain and move the low lying area to make to straight pipes that join at 30-40 degree angle. "L" shaped but not 90 degrees. Help our developer is giving us the run around!

Do you mean an oil tank, that you have to get around? If so, yes you can go around the tank with 45's. Slope the back, and underneath, this way water that enters will drain into the system, and not onto your basement floor.
