Brand new house with 5' wide window wells on a property that has an 18" difference in grade from one side to the other. Contractor installed patio @ 5' away from foundation, and of course, made the patio level, so the low side of the property now has the top of the basement window well below grade. And, the dirt in the flower bed between the patio and foundation is sloped to the house. Yes, massive water in the basement each time it rains heavy. I can't add dirt as there is no window well left to support the dirt. How do I extend the window well up another 6 inches to get the appropriate slope to add dirt? It is driving me crazy to have to drain the wells and clean the flood in the basement after each rain. What do I need to do? Soaked...

If it is a new house, check to see if your state mandates a warranty. Regardless, if the builder has any sense of moral obligation, they should address the issue w/o contest. There are options to help remedy the situation, but no matter what you want to keep water away from the house. It is difficult to recommend anything without seeing the situation first hand.

I am a contractor and run into other contractors all the time that just don't care. They start to care when people show up outside their business or home holding up a sign stating their displeasure.

If you are in Mass, I would be happy to come over and take a look for you.
