I'd like to replace a window in my basement with a french door. The problem is that the 68" rough opening for the window isn't a standard door size.

While I can have a custom door made, it's expensive. I can get a 5'4" door, and frame it in under the header, but I'm unsure what to do with the gap on the outside between the brick mold and the siding.

Any ideas on how to approach this problem? Or do I just bite the bullet and write the big check!?
