We have a 70s raised ranch home. We took down the panelling in our "finished" basement to find a cement wall and 1"x 3" framing nailed directly into the block, flat side down for a 1" depth. A 1" old school styrofoam panel was nailed between each wood piece. As expected it is cold down there any season except summer. Can I use closed cell foam boards between and over the wood framing to get this room insulated? The cement wall and wood look to be in perfect shape, no rot, water or mold. I just don't know if I am asking for trouble if I leave the wood between the cement block and the vapor barrier of foam board. Thanks for any info you can provide!
