I have recently bought an older house and am getting new carpet throughout . When peeling back a corner of the carpet in some rooms we have found some abestos tile. My plan at first was just to remove it myself and carpet over the black mastic but upon research I can't do that. The old carpet tack strips where nailed to the tile so the carpet company won't just lay over the tile because it will release fibers into the air when they remove the strip. It is on a wood subfloor so I was wondering if there was a sealer I could use to incapsulate the black mastic left behind?
