I bought a hand carved wood dragon. It was very shiny - looks like one of those finishes they put on cypress clocks, etc. It is very thick - have spent hours trying to strip it. It still has lots of heavy finish. Is there a stripper that works? I used a gel stripper but only removes about half. The wood is some kind of hardwood. I would like to take it to the natural wood. Is there something I can use to finish the job?
