Question re: stain loss from heat loss around new windows
I had a guy put in 3 windows for me 3 years ago. One window frosted severely above it the 1st winter, a little less next winter and a lot less (although still) this past winter. He said he will take the window out and finally re-install it--assuming responsibility for only that. However, all 3 windows have stain loss under and on all sides of the windows on the exterior siding. He refuses to take responsibility for the stain loss because there has not been visible frost. The stain loss on the cedar siding is definitely new since the windows were installed and keeps getting worse. I will definitely need to re-stain the whole outside wall. So, please tell me--- I need a confirmation that I am right-- that there does not have to be visible frost when there is heat loss outside. The windows themselves do not frost on the inside or outside of house. He won't assume responsibility for the heat loss and stain loss until I can convince him. I wish I could send more than 1 pic. Thanks I'm a senior single woman who has a hard time being assertive towards workers, but I can't let him walk all over me!
