I have a 20 year old refrigarator in the basement that seems to work fine

The problem is lately is that it emit a fairly high pitch sound most of the time. Have a few minute sin the basement with the sound you have to leave. The sound is on most of the time when the unit is running . I am asuming this unit will stop running shortly. is this correct ?

** it emits a fairly high pitch sound most of the time. **

From where on the appliance *exactly*?

- My refrigerator is making strange sounds. What's wrong with it?

.

If there is not just something (frost, ice, etc.) rubbing on it as it runs, the fan motor bearings are likely worn (very common). In such a case the fan motor likely needs to be replaced as it will stop running... sometime, probably when you least expect it. :/

You can read how to go about getting repair parts for your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.

JFYI
