Hi,

I'm looking to get a compressor and brad nailer that I will only need for occasional home use projects.

I get a catalog called Harbor Freight Tools that sells air tools from Central Pneumatic that are price very reasonably. The prices are so good that I'm concerned about the quality of the product, but I don't really need something to stand up to the rigors of a job site everyday. Does anyone have experience with Central Pneumatic air tools or Chicago Electric power tools (the other main brand that Harbor Freight tools sells)

Thanks,
Greg

Yes, I have purchased a fair amount of items from HF. They have a pretty good customer service bunch there. Buying from HF is hit or miss deal, by that I mean some of the things they sell are really pretty damn good, others are junk, you just take your chances, but the price is usually always right compared to others.

Mustang is right - they sell a "mix" of quality.

This is the first time i've ever heard HF and "quality" used together in the same sentence!

I hear stories about smoking motors, fractured metal parts, wobbly arbors etc.

I buy inexpensive items from them that I might only need or use once a year, like a die grinder, cut-off tool and air impact wrench. They work for my purpose.

For a air nailer or brad nailer I would go with an inexpensive Bostitch from a home improvement store like M*nards.
