I have a couple of tiling projects coming up... a backsplash, a bathroom floor, and some repairs.

I'm seeing the THD-550 wet saw, which is billed as being a great do-it-yourself saw... for only $88.

The math works out in my favor, buying one of these over renting one 3 times (plus blades)... but are these things reliable and able to do the job?

3/4 hp, and 7" diamond blade....

All comments appreciated.

But not alway's the case with power tools. If you plan on keeping it then I would invest in a better one. If not then $88.00 doesn't sound all that bad, compared to a rental price. If you decide on one, please let me know because I'm doing some tile work myself.

Well, the tile project is next week and the store was running out of these wet saws... so I went ahead with the purchase.

I'm installing the backsplash next weekend so I'll let you know how it does... one thing I will say is that the unit is hefty and appears to be made quite well.

Haven't cut a tile yet, but all exterior attachments and switches, etc. are of quality.

More later...
