I own several parrots and I'm not to handy, however I decided to make them a play area. I'm going to anchor a 4X4 in half a 5 gal bucket of cement for a base to attach several perches. I bought the waterproof kind so that I can hose it off (parrot poop) and not have any problems with water in the bucket. The directions seem pretty simple, however it says to ensure proper mixing by hand... to use a drill bit of some sort. I'm completely lost. What on earth do I put in my drill? Is there some sort of mixing bit??? I was trying to complete this on a very minimal buget and will likely never need this bit again. Is there another way that may be easier and cheaper? Any help is appreciated.

Not all directions need to be followed. Your package has directions for manual mixing OR power mixing using a drill. You can buy a mixer as a drill attachment, but its not worthwhile for this job. Just add the cement from the bag to the bucket and add water. Mix by hand until there are no dry spots and the material is wet but not soupy. Sometimes it is easier to mix only half the material at once, followed by the other half. This way you get better mixing and are not dealing with so much material at one time. Ignore the directions concerning the drill.

If you can put your mixing stick in the wetted cement and pull it out leaving behind a hole, you mixed it right. Just insert the post, level it and compact the cement by smoothing it.
