What I used for awhile: Automovive rubbing and poishing compounds. First use the rubbing compound to remove the stain. Flush with water and use the polishing compound to polish the area to it's original gloss. Do not use the same cloths. The reason I think the stain comes back is the pores of the finish are open. Polishing the area should stop this. I've use these compounds on countertops, tile, etc. Good Luck, Len
Hey iceman, have you tried that stuff on marble? I'd like to know if it works. I've got a spot on my marble fireplace that was "damaged" by - get this- ketchup. I believe it was the vinegar in the ketchup that did it. Anyhow, your idea sounds like a possible fix.
