Are the any secrets to getting pipes unscrewed? Or, I am going to have to saw them.
Thank You,
Andre
Is most easily accomplished with a snap (chain cutter) this tool is not in the DIY'er's toolbox because it costs so much. Your other option is to use special carbide sawzall blades. (get a few, depending on how many cuts you will be making) A deep cut porta-band saw also will cut cast pipe with the right blade. Make sure you support the pipe when making a cut. After your hub is cut off you can easily adapt to pvc or no hub cast-iron by using a mission band or fernco band.
What is the no hub remaining adapter that you are talking about? Since I posted this message I gone and broke off the 1 1/2 inch pipe right where it nears the large (3"?) pipe which dives under the concrete floor. All that I have remaining is a mangled nub of about 3" in length. What I prefer to do is get the remaining nub out of the coupler. So can I chip the pipe out or am I bound to be left with what I presently have?
