I want to change the location of my washing machine. In the new location the washer would share a wall with a bathroom. Connecting water and power will be no problem its the drain. Can I use the drain from the tub for the washer too. If so, is there anything else I should know.

Washing machines discharge a lot of water, very quickly. The discharge may also include an abundance of suds. The tub drain line may not be able to handle this combination without backing up into the tub because the line is relatively small and the drain opening is so low. Rather than tapping into the bathtub line consider tapping the toilet line or toilet vent stack which is usually a 3" or 4" pipe with a generous vent pipe.
