When the toilet is flushed or water ran when the well shuts off there is a noise that sounds like the washer spinning, thump, thump, thump, thump thump that comes from the points. It makes the noise for about 5 seconds and the pressure gage goes crazy and wiggles all over. It is a clicking noise if you are by the well but if you are upstairs it's like a thump.

A well point is somethign on the end of a pipe that is driven into the ground for some types of wells.

I don't think that is what you are talking about.

I believe that it the contacts on the pressure switch that you are hearing.

This rapid cycling typically caused by a water logged pressure tank or if has a bladder that either the blader is leaking or the air valve is leaking.
