I am refurbishing my inlaws oak stairs because they wanted me to install new oak stairs, but when I removed the carpet off of their steps there were oak treads in good condition (other than some nail holes)underneath. Now they want them sanded and refinished. I have two questions before I proceed.
#1 Is it better to remove the steps so I can get to the edges and sand & finish them easier.
#2 The steps are nailed in with finish nails and are squeaking. If I also use liquid nails can I use finish nails to reinstall them or should I use wood screws that will have to be puttied over?
THANKS for any advice!!
