Hi there!

Can anyone out there supply me with charts to use (mitre and bevel angles) when installing crown mouldings on cathedral ceilings (both inside and outside corners).

Thanks so much...

.. well I have a chart for regular corners for cutting on flat, but a cathedral ceiling installation is a different animal.

It's Easy though... here is a picture that 'splains it on my sites forum. (I'd post it here but I can't)

You'll also find a protractor you can print out, and how to use real world angles as put on a miter saw.

(90 to 45 as opposed to the reality of 45 to 135)..all in the forum, plus the "how to install crown moulding" tutorial on the main site, K2 was mentioning.

Thanks for the info.

Most angle charts available out there are to be used for 90 degree ceilings, not vaulted or cathedral.

I have researched the internet for many hours and I have found only 2 sites that actually offer the mitre and bevel angles for vaulted ceilings when cutting the crown flat on the saw. The sites are www.compoundmiter.com and http://www.perfectcuts.com/index.asp. The latter has a nice little application, you simply need to input the ceiling angle, the angles between the walls and the crown angle.... sweet but you can do this with charts available much cheaper at the first web site.

Of course, I strongly believe that this sort of information should be freely available on the internet (!) which is why I posted this message. There must be someone out there that has these angle charts for cathedral ceilings??!!!

Thanks again to those that show an interest in my problem!

Thanks breyton490 for your response, but the charts are NOT available on that web site, you must buy them (the charts posted are for standard cielings).

Of course I will eventually spend the money to get them, I was hoping that someone would have these charts available freely on the internet...

It's extremely simple to do crown on a transitional ceiling though, if you cut in position you simply bisect the angle and with the crown top up use miter not bevel.

Look at the step by step photo essay on this page: http://www.altereagle.com/7_How_to_insta.html "crown ceiling angles"
