I seem to recall an episode where Bob sent cedar shingles to be stained a color. Does this process/company exist or am I mistaken? I have a new lake house project where I would like to stain cedar shingles dark green. I am trying to avoid hand staining the shingles.

By using a "Solid Color" stain you can achieve a painted look. You can get these stains in almost any color in both oil and latex. Recommend "dipping" the shingle. Your local paint store can steer you right.
