My old stove is 220 V hard wired.
The simplest solution to me would be to just hard wire in the new stove.
However, the guy at the store said that it may be against code to not have a plug behind the stove for the oven to plug into. Because it may need to be unplugged in a fire (what fireman would pull back a burning stove from the wall to unplug it I don't know but whatever). He also said that the people delivering the stove can do nothing beyond just plugging it in. So I would have to wire it myself or wire an outlet for plug.
Anyways, is there any truth to this or can I just swap the wiring from my old stove directly into the new one with no intermediate plug?
In other words, is hard wiring safe for an oven?
Thanks very much!
