The house is low on power. The local power company says that the voltage from the garage reads (120-140). The voltage to the house reads (70-50). It is losing power when it comes into the house. What could be the problem and is it an expensive fix.

The voltage drop is caused by a high resistance connection.

I don't have any idea what kind of configuration that you have or what kind of damage there is.

It might be as simple as tightening a connection or replacing a splice, which would be done for the cost of a service run.

But it could be damage inside a breaker panel or underground cable runs. That can range from a couple of hundred into several thousands.

Ask your power company to do a load test on their transformer. I do work for my local power company as a subcontractor and I see this often. If you pull the meter it disconnects the load ( your house )from the power transformer. Without a load on it a faulty transformer can appear to be putting out correct voltage (measured at the meter can ), but when a load is put back on it the voltage (measured at the electrical panel )can be affected. The amount of voltage drop you are experiencing is most probably not a result of poor connections because if there were that much resistance in your connections your house would have already burned down. You may need to be very persistent to get them to perform this test, they dont like to admit that their equipment may be at fault because they are then responsible for damages to things like TV's, microwaves, doorbells, etc. I know this because I do about 1500 to 1800 worth of work a month for my power co. repairing things from just the type of problem you are having. Good Luck, Jack
