Greetings;

New occurance in my 2 year old home - the lights dim when I turn on the TV, the sink disposal, and the microwave!

Any ideas what may be causing this strange occurance?

Thanks much.

Do you also notice some lights getting brighter as others dim? If so, you have a bad neutral connection, most likely at the service drop or transformer. Call your utility company. They usually respond very quickly if you tell them you may have a loose neutral.

Hi guys;

Thanks to Househelper's advice, the electric company came out and fixed the surge problem.

However, now the power in the master suite keeps tripping with a big noise!

Could the electric co. have caused some damage during their repair? Or is this unrelated?

Thanks again.

Not sure what you mean by a big noise, but it is possible that while experiencing some of the unbalanced surges due to your neutral problem that you damaged some of the electronics in your house, including any AFCI breakers you may have. Is it an AFCI breaker that is tripping (one with a green reset button)?

Thanks for responding.

It is a circuit breaker with a white button that lights up with a dull orange light when it is tripped. This button is separate from the black on/off switch.
