I have an buried 110V cable somewhere on my lawn that powers an electrical outlet in the middle of the lawn. But I don't know the path of the cable across the lawn. Is there any device I can buy that will help me trace this line? Miss Utility does not do these kinds of traces. thanks in advance for advice.

My brother does this for a utility. There is equipment, but it is rather expensive, and therefore, not normally rented out (plus it takes training to use).

Here in Minnesota, anyone can call Gopher State One Call (811) and they will schedule a locater to come out, locate & mark the line -- all for free! Most states have something similar -- check in your state. (Or just dial 811 and talk to them.)

If that doesn't work, you can hire one of these same locating firms to do this for you.

Or you can try the manual method -- dig down (carefully!) along that outlet until you figure out which direction the cable turns. With that, you can probably figure out where it goes. Most times it runs in a pretty straight line from the outdoor outlet to the building. Do you know where it comes out from the building?

let me try the tracing company first, before trying to dig carefully. I could not tell where the line comes out of the house. thanks.
