I am in the process of stripping a pair of custom, solid mahogany doors which I believe did not have a good exterior finish when we originally built the house 11 years ago. Originally, they had a deep, slightly reddish color (the interior still is) but in less than 2 years the color seems to have bleached out. I used a urethane stain to try to get the color back and this was ok, but not great. I am getting back to bare wood (using Savogran Superstrip). I am planning to stain these to get the dark color and finish with Helmsman Spar Urethane.
