We're both new to the world of DIY home repairs and whatnot. We've decided to tackle the bathroom walls.
The wallpaper is very old so it peeled off quite easily. Underneath it seems to be several layers of paint (not sure holw old but it could be very very old) which chip off in some spots. The wall itself is an orange/brown pourous looking surface, almost like a terra cotta clay kinda surface. We have no idea what kind of wall this is. We rent this house. We could ask the landlady but are trying to not have to bother her.
So, here are our questions.
1) What do we need to do to get the paint off the walls? Do we need to use a stripper and if so, what kind is safe for the wall I described?
2) Once the paint is stripped do we need to spackle the wall? It's bumpy. And then sand? What's the procedure, please?
Another prob is the ceiling paint has mold coming through it. Should we just stip off all the ceiling paint and repaint?
Any help appreciated!!
