Can anyone tell me if exterior latex paint can be painted over oil based exterior primer/sealer. We are scraping and power washing a 100 yr. old + house and would like to use a good oil base primer/sealer, but are not sure if we can then paint with a latex top coat. Thanks for any help!!

Yes you can apply an acrylic/latex finish paint over an oil based primer. You should apply 2 finish coats for the longest lasting job. Also don't use one of thoes fast drying oil based primers as they dry to brittle and will flake and peel, just use the regular exterior oil based primer that the paint company that makes the finish paint makes.

Be sure to let the wood dry at least 3 good dry days before you apply the primer after you have washed the house.
