Hi Jay J and AzFred: Thanks for the information. All I have to do now is take a couple of deep breaths and get to work. Since I installed the flooring myself I think I can do this. I will let you know how it goes.
Sounds like a problem I had. No more than 2 weeks after I installed 500 sq.ft of Pergo flooring in a friends kitchen and laundry room, his hot water heater corroded and let out 80 gallons of hot water all over the floor. The joints buckled and the ends lifted. Since the damage was so extensive, it was easier to replace the whole floor. Some home owners policies will cover this.
If only scratches and holes are visible in the laminate I can recommend a laminate repair kit. I tried the test winner: on http://laminatefloorrepairkit.com/ and it was really easy to do the repair work.
