Staining interior concrete floors

We are thinking of staining the floors in our house. We plan to leave the 3 bedrooms carpeted, but stain the kitchen, dining, living, hall and foyer, and 2 bathrooms. These rooms presently have parquet, vinyl floor, carpet, and 1 inch square tiles. After we remove the old flooring, what do we use to remove the old adhesive and clean the concrete and then how do we stain the concrete? What kind/brand of stain should I use and where can I find colors? Thanks!
