Keeping up with outdoor maintenance can feel like its own full-time job: messy pollen in the spring, seemingly endless leaves in the fall, and shifting weather patterns throughout. To help you handle the tasks necessary to make your space a place of enjoyment rather than one that demands constant effort, home technology brand Aiper offers a complete lineup of everything from lawn irrigation systems to automatic pool cleaning robots.
But finding the version of each offering that’s right for you isn’t as easy as reading over a couple of spec sheets, which is why we’ve personally reviewed more than a dozen of the brand’s skimmers, sprinklers, and water quality monitors. After weeks of effort from people who’ve been using these types of tools for years, these are the best Aiper products tested by our team.
Best Smart Irrigation System
Aiper IrriSense 2 Smart Irrigation System
Buy at AiperHomeowners and gardeners alike know all too well how much effort it takes to keep your yard and plants healthy and happy, which is why using a smart irrigation system like the Aiper IrriSense 2 makes so much sense. Covering up to 4,800 square feet and allowing for up to 10 distinct watering zones, this modern sprinkler sends precise sprays of precipitation exactly where you want them. Its built-in weather detection feature automatically skips scheduled cycles during rain or pauses watering on windy days, and you can even elect to have helpful notifications sent to your phone whenever a cycle wraps up.
What our tester says: “While the initial zone mapping takes a bit of time, and you’ll need access to both a faucet and a power outlet, the fact that you can completely customize your setup from year to year makes that totally worth it.”—Paul Rankin, Product Reviews tester and writer
Best Robotic Pool Cleaner
Photo: Paul Rankin for Bob VilaWith its seamless setup, fast app pairing, and intuitive controls, the Scuba X1 cordless robotic pool cleaner had our attention even before testing. And once we put it in the water, we were impressed that it not only navigated the pool without issue, but that each mode—floor, wall, waterline, and smart—worked so well. But our favorite aspect was probably the cleaner’s filtration system, which uses a thicker material than other models to do a better job of collecting fine debris and algae (more of both than we even knew was there). Once the robot was done, the filter was simple to clean by popping it out and hosing it off, and the compact charging station made sure everything was ready for the next go-round.
What our tester says: “The Aiper Scuba X1 did an amazing job on my algae-riddled pool. Although the algae issue didn’t seem particularly bad at first, when I looked at the filter, it was bright green! Very impressive.”—Paul Rankin, Product Reviews tester and writer
Best Budget Robotic Pool Cleaner
Aiper Seagull SE Cordless Robotic Pool Vacuum
Buy at AmazonAt well under $200, the Aiper Seagull SE is one of the most affordable cordless robotic pool vacuums we tested, favoring a simple, single-button operation over complex apps and cords. Its lightweight body and dual-drive motors allow it to move easily across any pool floor, and in our tests, the bottom brushes did an outstanding job loosening and collecting everyday dirt, sand, and bugs during its roughly 90 minutes of runtime. While the Seagull SE lacks the advanced navigation, wall climbing capabilities, and oversized debris baskets of premium models (which can easily cost $1,000 or more), it provides excellent everyday value for pool owners prioritizing quick setup, lightweight handling, and reliable daily maintenance.
Best Premium Robotic Pool Cleaner
Photo: Paul Rankin for BobVila.comAfter testing the Aiper Scuba V3 for a month in an in-ground Florida pool, we can safely say its AI navigation is about more than marketing—you can actually watch it identify debris and plan an efficient route to remove it rather than roaming randomly. That targeted approach allows the dual filtration system to capture sand, bugs, and fine algae with every pass, leaving the water noticeably clearer as a result. Like most pool robots, the Scuba V3 is made of plastic, but the build feels solid and durable, and extra features like the automated weekly scheduler and excellent retrieval system (the robot climbs to the waterline and sheds water weight before you lift it out) make it clear how well-designed this premium model is.
Best Above-Ground Pool Vacuum
Aiper Scuba SE Above-Ground Pool Vacuum
Buy at AmazonThe Aiper Scuba SE offers an exceptionally easy-to-handle, 8-pound solution for flat-bottomed pools, requiring just 5 minutes of setup time to transition from unboxing to submersion. The cordless unit has enough power to handle an efficient 90-minute cycle that sucks up both large and small debris, and once its work is complete, the automatic self-parking feature stops the vacuum near the pool’s edge, making it easy to pop out for recharging. While the Scuba SE can’t climb walls and may occasionally get hung up on obstacles, it’s overall a user-friendly above-ground pool vacuum for easy everyday maintenance.
Best Pool Skimmer
Photo: Paul Rankin for Bob VilaAiper’s EcoSurfer S2 pool skimmer is one of the easiest, most hands-off pool maintenance tools we’ve ever used. Powered by a built-in solar panel, the robot cruises your pool continuously without needing dedicated charging time (it comes with a backup plug as well), pulling leaves, bugs, and pollen into its debris basket as it goes. In our tests, it did an excellent job bouncing around on its own, but the easy-to-use companion app also allows for remote steering if desired. At about $400, it offers a good balance between price and performance and will keep your water’s surface clean with almost zero daily effort.
What our tester says: “If you have an open-air pool, a robotic skimmer like this is almost essential. The fact that it can clean indefinitely is also a huge advantage—one less thing to think about.”—Paul Rankin, Product Reviews tester and writer
Best Water Quality Monitor
Photo: Paul Rankin for Bob VilaIf you’re after a quicker and more accurate way to stay on top of your pool’s water quality than paper strips or liquid pool test kits, the Aiper HydroComm smart monitor is the perfect alternative. Setup is incredibly easy—just sync the solar-powered floating device with the Aiper app and pop it in your pool, and in mere minutes, you’ll receive real-time info on aspects like pH, chlorine levels, and temperature alongside helpful care suggestions. To keep the monitor out of swimmers’ way, it comes with a tethering lanyard, and to protect the probes and keep them from drying out, Aiper includes a set of protective wet caps.
