After testing the MyQ Secure View 3-In-1 Smart Lock at my home in Florida for close to 2 months, it’s clear this product is aiming to simplify something most smart homes have made more complicated.

Instead of juggling a separate smart lock and video doorbell, this [security device](<https://www.bobvila.com/category/safety-security/>) combines everything into a single unit. That alone makes a strong first impression, both visually and functionally. It looks cleaner on the door and cuts down on the number of devices you need to install, manage, and charge.

## Installation and Use

Installing the [MyQ](<https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G62V934W/?tag=chamberlain-myq-smart-lock-review-20>) was refreshingly straightforward, and the video walkthrough and interactive 3D models of parts throughout the installation are an extra attention to detail that should be celebrated. The lock replaces your existing deadbolt and doesn’t require complicated wiring, which makes it approachable for most DIYers. From unboxing to fully connected in the app, setup was smooth and didn’t throw any major curveballs. Compared to installing a separate lock and doorbell, this felt like a shortcut in the best way.

In day-to-day use, the convenience is what stands out most. Having five different ways to unlock the door, including facial recognition and fingerprint access, gives you a lot of flexibility depending on the situation. I found myself using different methods without thinking about it, which is a good sign that the system integrates naturally into your routine. The camera also delivers solid performance, with clear footage during the day and usable color night vision, and motion alerts that felt responsive without being overwhelming.

## Battery Life and Final Thoughts

The battery life held up well during testing (the advertised 6-month battery life seems accurate so far), and the removable battery design makes recharging simple.

The biggest drawback? The reliance on a subscription to unlock many of the more advanced features, including smarter alerts and full functionality. If you’re already in the [MyQ](<https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G62V934W/?tag=chamberlain-myq-smart-lock-review-20>) ecosystem, that’s less of a hurdle, but new users should factor it into the total cost.

Overall, this is one of the more compelling smart home upgrades I’ve tested recently. It won’t be for everyone, especially those trying to avoid subscriptions, but if you want a cleaner, more integrated front door setup, it delivers exactly what it promises.
